A Writer's CREED

Last January, I decided to ring in the New Year with a writer's pledge/creed; being a writer that only seemed appropriate. I shared my thoughts, hopes, dreams, and even fears and reservations with you, believing writers mirror each other. And I was correct. Most of you agreed with me. Some of you chose to take the pledge with me.

Today, my first official post of this most awesome, post-Mayan calendar year of 2013--which I'm dubbing "Year 1 of magnificent Sheriisms"--I'm celebrating the New Year with a new creed.

I'd LUV and be honored if you'd take it with me. You can even post the creed on your site, as a reminder of our promises to ourselves and each other. I've supplied a smaller size below for you to do so.

If you choose to honor this creed with me, please add your name to the Linky list. Cut and paste either size badge to your site and link back to this post. It'd be great if we could get a ton of writers to take this and reconnect throughout the year.

What do you think of setting personal goals & self-promises?

  1. What a great creed! I always have my personal writing goals, but I try not to make self promises b/c those are usually made out of desperation. I'm very reasonable when I set goals, so I can meet them. Then when I go beyond - that's just a bonusd!

  7. I love this! Too bad I didn't see it when I posted this morning. I'll add this to my post when I link to a poem I'll have posted on another blog on 01/16. I'm definitely in!

As for your Facebook comment, I can't comment from work, but if you read the thread, the link to my motivating group is there. It's called Write On to Build On. We check in with our writing totals each day and provide encouragement. Then every three months, we check in with the total # of days we didn't write and donate to the Build On charity. See the "About" group page for details. Hope you join!

  8. It's important to set goals and make promises to ourselves. If I didn't have goals what would I aim for?

  25. I especially love the Be Me and Be a writer everyday. Too often we writers get discouraged by comparing ourselves to others, I've done it myself and as for writing everyday that is my number one priority for this year.
