The Absent-minded Writer

Plotting cave + Reading for inspiration + Personal Issues such as sick kiddos & school politics = Scatter-brained writer aka ME. Thus absent-minded. I've been forgetting things left and right, lately. Even completely forgot to announce winners to my past few giveaways. #badwriter #badwriter  Here they are:

Book Lover's Holiday Hop
SUSAN DEAN!!

BROKEN Giveaway
CHRISTINA CHANDLER MANNING!!

The Circle of Tivedon Giveaway
PK MYER HREZO!!

Congratulations to the winners. Thank you for visiting, entering, and for your patience!!

Now, I'd started writing a post about plotting drafts, focusing on books in a series or sequels. However, since I completely missed out on my Wistful YA Wednesday post, I decided to keep it light for a Friday and get serious within the next few weeks. So please come back to help me weed through my issues with plotting out the sequel to my YA novel. I'd LUV to hear what you have to say!!

BUT...for today, I'm sharing some cheer. My good writing/blogging friend, Elizabeth Arroyo, will be celebrating her first book birthday next Thursday; I'll be sharing in her celebration next Wednesday. Today, I'd simply like to share my tiny involvement in her release.

See what she received the other day.

Now look a little bit closer....

AND just a bit closer...
OMGosh...that's me!

I can't tell you what it means to me to have a publisher quote me and have my words endorse a fellow author's story. I am thrilled for Elizabeth, and Sapphire Star Publishing. I meant every word of that quote.

Have you ever been quoted or been asked to give an opinion of a colleague's work (publishing or any other arena) for promotional purposes or as a reference?

  1. Congrats to Elizabeth. I haven't written a sequel yet but I have the general story lines for the sequels to my MG fantasy. I'll come back and give you some suggestions when you post about plotting yours out.

Sometimes life makes it hard to really dig into the writing and remember everything in life. I often use post-it notes by where I keep my purse to remember things. Like now I have one there to remind my daughter of something.

    1. Ooh, do come back and share! I'm currently finishing up book I of a book II I read last month. I'm reading book I, studying structure, backstory (which she included in book II), and character development. Great exercise.

  2. Congrats to the winners.

Elizabeth's book looks awesome. That is cool that you provided a quote. I bet Elizabeth will miss her characters. I know I did when I ended my first YA series. They still haunt me sometimes. :)

  3. I've never been asked, but I have used other author's. It's fun.
And hey, no worries being absent minded. I think it's that time of year. Like the flu, it's going around.

  6. That is awesome!!! Doesn't it feel good? Even better than one's own name on the cover.

  11. Hi, Sheri,

Congrats to both you an Elizabeth... such a cool cover and the premise.

I was asked by a wonderful blogger/author, Karen Gowen to quote one of my comments. She actually used it on her personal website. I was incredibly honored.
