#1: I'm doing my first podcast interview this Thursday.
Tw
Yes, this is exactly how I feel.
Soooo ... want to share any advice? Have you ever had your voice recorded by someone you can't physical see, not knowing what they're going to ask or if you'll answer too fast or too slowly?
#breath @SA_Larsen That can be a hashtag, right? Tweet me that on Thursday between 1:15 - 1:45 PM EST. If my phone goes off a few bazillion times I'll start laughing during taping and you'll know I heard you. ;)
#2: My cover is being released for my young adult novel.
For those of you who haven't been with me for the past eight years - feels like 25: this book has been revised no short of 30 times, changed characters, locations, world building, and even agent/publishers. I have a massive love/hate relationship with this book.
Ever felt like that: a love/hate relationship with one of your books, authors?
A personal splat: Want to help make me feel better?
See, I feel better already.
Help me reveal my cover. The reveal is set for Wednesday, May 17th. If you can't release it on that day, feel free to release it any day after the 15th. I'd love the extra support. Fill out THIS FORM and I'll email you all the information you'll need.
AND there's something in it for you! I'm offering up a Free ebook copy of the book after it's released to two lucky participants - those who share via blog post, tweet one of my pre-made tweets via Twitter, or share my pre-made image via Instagram. Xtra entries for multiple shares. Make sure to tag me (or email me the link) in your share so I can include you in the giveaway - open until May 23rd. Anyone who shares from you will be entered in, too, as long as they tag me.
XOXO Happy reading & writing....

Hi Sheri - good luck with that interview - daunting, but it'll be fine. Book cover release - I'm sure blogging friends will come forward ... but your personal splat - hope that can be sorted out quickly ... take care and all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouraging words, Hilary! You always have something beautiful to say.
DeleteGood luck with the interview and your cover release. Yes, I know what you mean about a love/hate relationship with a manuscript. I spent so long on my first one too that I have those feelings for it.
ReplyDeleteHaha! We're all so different, yet so similar.
DeleteJust saved the hashtag and will try to remember to Tweet at you. Don't worry, you'll do great.
ReplyDeleteI don't do cover reveals anymore but you know I'll do a shout out when the book is released!
Yup, I already added you to my list. Thank you!
DeleteAnd if you really tweet that I will just die laughing!
Love/hate relationship with a book? Oh yeah. It's still sitting on my computer waiting for the next revision. A complete rewrite. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm wishing you the best! I really don't do cover reveals via the blog, but if you shoot me the info, I'll tweet about it. Meantime, let me know when you come up on your release date. I'm booked into July for blog spots, but you know you've got a priority ticket in that realm.
Aw, thanks! I'll shoot you an email with the information when I have it ready. Feel free to do whatever with it. We could schedule something for September. That's the month the YA will be released into the wild.
DeleteI've done a podcast interview in the past. They are more fun than you realize. You'll be awesome!
ReplyDeleteAs for the cover reveal, let me make sure to fill out the form. I want to get back to being more interactive and supportive and you, my dear, are a great writer so I'd love to share in your cover reveal.
Love the gif! I've done podcasts for my psychologist job but not as an author. They're a lot of fun...just like a phone conversation with a friend that happens to be recorded. My tip is to write down a few sound bytes you can use during the interview. (I tend to ramble so it's nice to have some prepared language to use.) I signed up for your cover reveal--sounds like it will be a relief to get this one out to the world!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the podcast! Unfortunately, I have no advice for participating in one as I've been too chicken to do so. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting. How can we access your podcast? Just be confident and enjoy the experience. Take care.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting news! You've got this:) Can't wait to see the cover.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the podcast!! That's awesome. I'd be nervous too but I know you'll knock it out of the park. Made me laugh about the hashtag.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm happy to help share the book cover. All signed up. :)
You're going to do awesome! I haven't done a podcast, but the best interviews for me have been when I'm really knowledgeable about what I'm talking about. Then I forget the other people. You are an expert on your writing and your books! You can do this!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so excited for you about your YA! It's encouraging to hear that all your hard work paid off!
Is it crime or mystery related? If so I'll sign up. Can't help with anything else though. Sorry.

I've never done a podcast interview before. I'm pretty sure I don't have the proper equipment for it. Good luck!!!
ReplyDeletePodcasts are really easy on the interviewee. Promise. Good luck and keep up the great job. This is not an easy business, so you should congratulate yourself on what you've accomplished. I'll be glad to set up some Tweets to announce your cover. Just send me the cover and the links.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to be great!!! Can't wait to see the cover! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for these insecurities. I'd be biting my nails for sure. Good luck with the podcast and with the book release!
ReplyDeleteI took a few notes, today, and wrote down some answers that might work. I'm sure I'll be fine. It's the unknown that scares me. I should write a book about The Unknown... :)
DeleteOh, man--you have my sympathy on the interview! I always feel like my brain works closer to the speed I can type than the speed a normal person speaks. Maybe anticipate some things you think you will be asked and write out and practice THOSE answers? That way you have to do less thinking on your feet. And congrats on getting that long term project out there!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the support, Hart! That's what I did today. I typed out questions I think are probably normally asked (or people want to know) and I typed out answers. I think just doing that helped me feel calmer about it. I think my biggest worry is not being able to connect or my laptop lagging or some issue with my internet - which would be just like me! LOL
DeleteOh, I know that feeling. I've only done one podcast interview and I struggled not to pace all over my house while attempting to answer questions. Gah - what is my book about? hmm. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be awesome!
Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteThat gif is fantastic! It's exactly how I'd feel - but sorry I can't help you. I've never done a podcast. But I know you're going to do great.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the reveal!
I have absolutely no idea about podcasts. Wishing you all the very best with the interview.
ReplyDeleteHave signed up for cover reveal.
Very cool, wishing you the best. Have fun with it.

Try not to say "Um" or "you know" more than 100 times. Saying "That's a good question" will buy you some time to think.
ReplyDeleteI blog on Friday's so I can definitely help with the cover reveal.
That would be fabulous. Thank you! And the podcast went fine. It was way easier than I thought it would be. Basically, I talked. lol No problem there.
DeleteHello! Congrats to you on your podcast! Was it yesterday? I'm sure it went well. I'm all signed up to help in all possible ways for your cover reveal. Erm... I have a love/hate relationship with ALL my books when I'm in the final stages of editing them! And then my insecurities go crazy and I wonder what I'm even thinking considering publishing them! You've been so amazing and supportive of me. I'd emailed you in February after you offered to share about my book and I think it went to your spam, or I had the wrong address, but I don't want you to think I ignored you! I meant to follow up sooner, but somehow it's May? Congrats to you and excited for your cover. Christy <3
ReplyDeleteThe podcast has come and gone... I'm sure it went off okay.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book, Sherri...30 revisions sounds like you've invested loads of time/energy into the book.
I can tweet for you!
