Listen to this video. It's short. I've decided to listen to it once every day for the next month and see how I feel at the end. Feel free to join me and we can release our observations together during my It's All About Gratitude Blog Hop. I haven't hosted a blog hop in a long time, so I thought this might be fun as well as helpful to us and other writers. Sharing our writerly wisdom is always a good thing, which I'm thinking will lead us to more happiness and gratitude. And isn't that the point?

The Importance of Gratitude For A Writer
I found this video the other day, and thought of all my writer friends out there - those I converse with daily, those on occasion, and those I've yet to meet. If there is one element of the writing life that unites us it's the sense of unease about a project, the publishing market, and our careers as storytellers. Even the most successful of authors have these moments of self-doubt and blurred reason.

Feel free to join me and we can release our observations together during my It's All About Gratitude Blog Hop. Sharing our writerly wisdom is always a good thing, which I'm thinking will lead us to more happiness and gratitude. And isn't that the point?
The hop will run from March 3 - 5. Post any of those three days - using this badge and linking back to this list - and tell us about what you learned about yourself over the course of the month. Did it help you? How do you plan on implementing your findings? Just signup with Mr. Linky below. Of course, spreading the word would be greatly appreciated!
How happy do you feel on a daily basis? How often do you consciously think about it?

Gratitude is a great idea. Most people think luck is what they need, but it is better to think of blessings. I often feel I'm blessed and I'm thankful for what great things I have, although others may think it is not a lot. I'm going to see how I'm fixed at this time in March.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great video and so many good ideas on how to be happier. No matter what we all have things to be thankful for. I signed up for the blog hop and will include a short post with my author interview scheduled.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I felt after the holidays and rush of January trying to get back to some normalcy, the lull of February might need a little kick in the pants. :)
DeleteThanks for spreading the word!
I'm pretty fortunate in that contentment is a pretty natural state for me, but I think everyone could benefit from counting their blessings on a day to day basis. It really is so important.
ReplyDeleteGratitude is a great thing to show on a daily basis. When you stop to think about it, there's so much to be grateful for.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful idea! I'm going to have to come back later and check out the video, but I am definitely in the mindset that gratitude makes everyone's world a lot brighter :)
ReplyDeleteGratitude helps perk me up on those days I'm feeling blue, definitely. I'm pretty happy on a daily basis, but not always every moment of each day! I get annoyed when I have to wash dishes for instance, lol. But then I remember how blessed I am to have dirty dishes to wash because that means I have good, healthy food in my belly.
ReplyDeleteI always liked this saying that Charles Ingalls often repeated during hard times in the Little House books: There's no great loss without some small gain. It's good to remember that and look for the silver lining.
Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
That is a great Ingalls quote! I'd totally forgotten about it. It's so, so true. Silver linings are always there. Our sight for the gold sometimes blinds us, though.
DeleteWhat a great idea for a blog hop!
ReplyDeleteFeeling grateful is a good way to be happy. Focusing on others means we aren't focused on our own problems.
ReplyDeleteYeah. And all that can get in the way of our progress both as people and writers.
DeleteGratitude is definitely the key to happiness. I love the bloghop idea, and I'll spread the word...once my exhausted brain catches up with reality. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for spreading the word! Reminding ourselves of what we do have clears our view of what we've yet to attain.
DeleteWhat a nice idea. Yes, people need to be grateful for what they have. I'm sharing this on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a looong time since I've done a blog hop, but I'll gladly join this one! I've got so much to be thankful for as a writer, including you, my friend! :) <3
ReplyDeleteYAY! Thanks for joining in. I haven't partaken in a blog hop forever, either.
DeleteThank You. Great Post. We all need more Gratitude!
ReplyDeleteThe video fits you perfectly! I can't imagine a more positive and gracious person than you. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my ... You are so kind to me. ((hugs))
DeleteThat's a great video! I'm lucky - as a teacher I get to be surrounded by kids and their enthusiasm all day. It's a great job! I love the point about forgiveness in the video - so important to let things go!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. Letting things on the inside go as well as the outside is a healthy act.
DeleteAn attitude of gratitude is something I've been putting into practice with each day for some time now. I must say, it makes my days so much better knowing how blessed I am in all the various facets of my life, even in the far-from-perfect corners.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to know! I know I'm thankful for elements of my life, but don't think I consciously think about it each day. Hoping this helps!
DeleteThis is awesome. I'll sign up as soon as I get home tonight.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! Love to have you.
DeleteThanks for sharing this video. I love that you are going to start your day with it each day for a month. I can't wait to hear the results! Thanks for sharing this. :)

Mind over matter, you know? I thought this would help. :)
DeleteHappiness is always desired, and I do believe it starts with gratitude--appreciating what you have, not trying to get MORE stuff all the time. Thanks, Sheri.
ReplyDeleteWhat a positive way to start out 2014. I will share this on my FB page, Sheri.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great video! Thanks for sharing this.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheri. I am ready to let the gratitude roll.
ReplyDeleteGratitude makes a huge difference to everything in life.
ReplyDeleteIt really does. I need a reminder every now and then. :)
DeleteGratitude is so important! Sounds like a good blog hop!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to join in the fun! Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteAfter a rough end to 2013, I decided that in 2014 I would adopt an Attitude of Gratitude. It's amazing how my outlook has changed. What a great idea for a blog hop!
ReplyDeleteGreat video. Unfortunately, something horrible happened to me tonight and I'm feeling hot. I'm going to try to calm down watching this again.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic video! The world is full of people who have little regard for others, now more than ever. I love to see more people embracing gratitude and a positive attitude.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and I'm glad to join! I'm dedicating my whole year to climb up to cloud nine, and to connect with you all doing the same is amazing!
ReplyDeleteJust signed up and excited to participate! I'll also post it on my blog to help spread the word. This is a great idea!! :)
