It's Featherbrained Friday, again! And within the A to Z Challenge, it's J time. So here's something to ponder: Ever ditched a JOB. Yes, I mean a J.O.B. Work. Like in high school when there was a cool party to go to and you just had to be there? Or have you ever gone to a job interview and prayed to high Heaven you didn't get it? 
Yeah. I did that last one. Wanting to still be a stay-at-home-mom with my two teeny boys at the time (we ended up having 2 more minions, lol), I applied for the bookkeeper's job at a soon-to-be-open local restaurant. Why? Because I could make my own hours, which consisted of only fifteen to twenty, and I could do most of them from home. Sweet! But I hate numbers. Any hoot, I got the job before I walked out of the interview.

I'm glad you got the bookkeeping job! I was lucky to stay home with mine until they were each over a year old. Those days never come back round again. ;-) I'm out enjoying the A to Z. :-)

ReplyDeleteOh yes. I ditched and got fired. Not a good choice on my part, but I learned a great lesson. I never ditched on what I'd said I'd do without a very good reason. . .even a note from my doctor. :-)

DeleteThankfully I never really had to do too much of the 9-5 think, BUT there were many INSANE photographers I certainly would've loved to ditch after a torment session with them. Some of them are truly psychotic.
ReplyDeleteOh, geez, I can only image. Thus: reason I never agreed to model. Was asked when I was younger, but felt my aversion to having my picture taken would probably be a hindrance. LOL Plus, I'd totally tick of the photographers.

ReplyDeleteYep, I ditched a summer job during college. Professor scared the crap out of me and it just got to be too much. I also interviewed for a job at Fermilab and was very glad I'd already taken another job when they called me. Part of the interview is purposefully rude to make sure you can handle the PhDs dumping on the lowly BS degrees. And I didn't want to live in Chicago!

DeleteThere's been two jobs that I quit after three days- one at a factory in summer(after I dripped hot glue all over my hand...ouch) & the other a maid in a hotel. That job was hard and it also didn't help when my first room there was blood on the pillow. =/ And congrats to Elizabeth on a very nice cover!

I'm the bloody QUEEN of ditching jobs! :) Usually jobs within the house but yeah, I left companies who paid me well but didn't treat me right and never regretted it. Life is too short to wait for the end of workweek to start living it!

ReplyDeleteAnd love how you let your heart guide you and left the job out from the interview. I ditched my job recently. Not because I wanted to but knew it was the right thing to do. It was the most hardest decision of my life. I had been a hair stylist for twenty years at the same place.
Call Me Grimm looks tasty. I had a job interview for being the theater technical director of a private high school. I got hives thinking about getting that job. Thank goodness it never panned out. Low pay - massive high expectation.
