LOGO ME THIS

MONSTER MONDAY: EPISODE #16

On a daily basis we are bombarded by LOGOS or catchy phrases attached to some product or idea. There are images representing food and water, carpenter tools to kitchen utensils, tissues, paper plates, sporting gear, fashion, and even toothpaste.
We've got different languages, colors, font sizes. Ads target social and economic differences, age, and state of mind.

So for today's MONSTER MONDAY EXERCISE, see if you can come up with a LOGO or catchy MOTTO for your current WIP. A phrase, one sentence logline, or even a paragraph. How would you cram the best of what's best about your WIP into a marketable, promo to entice not just readers but...ahh, the snag of an agent?

Example: Disorderly Compact--hunting angels-gone-bad while wearing three-inch heels and scarlet cherry lip gloss.

Just something to make ya' think.

  1. I'm not good at this kind of thing and can't think of anything for my own WIP right now - but I love your example - hilarious.

  2. Oh, no! You're going to make me think! But you know what? I'm going to be dwelling on this while I exercise today. I won't be able not to. ;)

  3. Hah, Stina. I know, thinking's overrated. But on occasion, it can motivate. ";-)

  4. Wow. What a neat idea. And I'm totally bad at this sort of thing. But I'll try in less than 1 minute. WIP is The Lion Awakens (YA)

Logline:Two teens battle enemies from alternate universe to save their own.

Motto: The Lion Awakens...and the world is never the same

Motto:The Lion Awakens ... And two teens, unaware of their destiny, must save the world.

Graf: When Annie Lange and David McClure find flash drives hidden inside gifts, they learn the secret about their parents deaths and are thrown into a world they could never have imagined. A world that requires them to master abilities they never knew they had to defeat an enemy bent on destroying all that they love.

  8. Oh, I like this, too!!!

(And, funny enough, I was just thinking about logos. I was watching The Cleveland Show last night--horrible show, btw, this isn't a rec--and noticed that there was a Sunny D bottle on the table. Of a cartoon! Someone drew the bottle there--not by accident! Talk about product placement...

  9. Hmm. For mine, it would be, instead of a diamond De Beers soliataire, a hunting knife in a velvet case.

  10. MMMmmm.......ER....!
    OK Got one!

    "HOT SIX ON SUNDAY"
(The new MG novel by Sister Janet Sexanovich)

"When a Sunday School outing goes horribly wrong, 6 members of the children's choir are on the spot to bring HARMONY to the damned"

Now that COULD become a work in progress!
