But I won't. To scary, and I haven't had breakfast yet.
But there is one thing, and it's a beauty aid mind you, that I simply DO NOT understand, would never do or think of doing.
Body Piercing.
I'm not talking about your average ear, navel, or wherever (slamming eyelids shut) piercing. I'm referring to those native traditions we've all seen on the Discovery or the History Channel. Use your imagination. You know what I'm talking about:
- a plate in the bottom lip
- a rock or some cylindrical object in the earlobe
- a stick you-know-where with twine folding the little sucker up toward the torso.
Yeah. I'm shivering, too.
There have it. My WELL, I NEVER.... For more, check out the other participants HERE!!
Any piercing beyond the ears scares me!
ReplyDeleteEwwww, I'm shuddering now. I've got ONE piercing in my ears and some days I wonder why I bothered since I never wear earrings anymore. Now I can sorta understand the piercing thing from a cultural standpoint. Those folks live in a completely different society, so maybe it's a cool/prestige thing. What I don't get is when people in THIS country emulate them.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh....and let's not even think about HOW they pierce in the first place. They don't have some sterile shop in the mall with clean needles and all that.
I should've added Fear Factor (or any of those reality shows) to my never list. No way, no how.
Ohhhhhh....you just made me think of a couple more to add to my list. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! The one's that irk me out (aside from tribal traditions) are the bull rings (through center of nose). I don't know why, but just looking at one makes me want to sneeze :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Vicki, on the cultural subject. That's true.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jess - bull ring!!!
Oh! I'd forgotten about those stick guys. But to each his own, right?
ReplyDeletebut you see, mousse instead of hair gel just doesn't WORK. I'm sorry. It's like putting whipped cream on your hair...
ReplyDeletebut I'm SO with you on the piercing thing. Bleah. :p I don't even like that checker in the ear trend going on. What up with that??? :D <3
Totally forgot the so called reality fare.
ReplyDeleteI know some piercings are a cultural thing but ....
Mary
I'm so with you on this one. I see kids on the college campus where I work doing the stretch out one's earlobes to freakish proportions. YOUNG MEN are doing this. Bizarre. Totally bizarre.
ReplyDeletehi miss sheri! i saw that culture stuff on tv. it looks soooo wierd. it could be way more wierd on my sister or my brother. ack!
ReplyDelete...hugs from lenny
What a fun game! I totally agree with you. I've never seen the appeal of extreme piercing. *Shudders at the thought...*
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you on this one!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the body piercing. When my youngest sister was a teenager she did a lot of that, and watching her tongue heal from that was disgusting.:(
ReplyDeleteShivering? My legs are crossed! LOL Yeah, I would never either. :D
ReplyDeleteOh me neither! Ick!!
ReplyDeleteThough I loved looking at National Geographic as a kid at the women who wear rings around their necks to make their necks longer. That's not piercing, but it gave me the curious-heebie-jeebies in a similar way.
Agreed. Pierced ears are enough for me.
ReplyDeleteYeah people do weird things to there bodies. Like the corset piercing where you make your back look like a tie up corset.ugh! But good entry!
ReplyDeleteEeoowwwww.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a way with words...write much? :)
