Summer Reading & a Blogging Break!

Writing is an adventure ~ a way to take myself someplace else and meet people of the average to paranormal persuasion I'd never normally meet. It forces me to explore our world in altered lights. Reading has similar benefits. I journey, explore, meet, and ponder.

Since signing with my agent last summer, I've had to make many changes to my writing life; this summer will be no different. This will be my last post until September. Originally, I'd committed to finishing the sequel to my YA novel that is currently out on sub with four houses (YAY!); I'm 23,000 words into that sequel and my agent is starting to pitch two of my picture book manuscripts; double YAY! But, after chatting with her last week, we've decided I should work on one of my MG projects. So that's what I'll be writing. I'll also be helping my husband with his new business. (If you remember, I mentioned back in February that he'd decided to open his own car dealerships; we have two now. Phew...)

I'm also planning to read some and for the mere pleasure of it. Here's a list of the physical books (potential summer reads) I have in hand - well, on my nightstand.

Here's the list of intended reads already downloaded on my Nook:

THE DRAGON EMPIRE - Heather McCorkle (Actually, I just finished up with this one.)
DRAGONFLY - Leigh T. Moore
NEW PRIDE - Laura Diamond
DEBT COLLECTOR Episode 2 & 3, at least - Susan Kaye Quinn

Surely something will toss a wrench in my plans, but at least I've set a plan of summer writing and reading in action.

TWO quick SPLATS!! 1) Make sure to choose your award for being a follower or simply stopping, which I posted yesterday HERE. Your visits mean the world to me. 2) Sarah's Reviews is offering up two YA novels & 1 MG novel by the fabulous C.Lee McKenzie. Make sure to enter HEREHERE, & HERE Until the first week of August!

Happy, Happy Summer & Happy, Happy FOURTH of JULY to all my US friends!!! I'll miss you, but I will be stopping in on Monday, July 22, to participate in the Summer Sizzling 50 Authors Blog Tour! Loads and loads of prizes. Can't wait!

Have you outlined your summer writing or reading? What's on your reading list for the summer?

  7. I understand why you've stopped posting until September. Ever since I took the job editing I've been swamped. I love it, but trying to balance writing and editing is crazy. Enjoy summer reading!! See you in September.

  20. Have a great break, and get some awesome writing in, eh? I'm never going to get through my TBR list, but my minimum is 4 genre books a month, so I never have to binge read--except for the end of each month to meet my goal. Still, I'm envious of your stack.
