It's All Fun & Games Until Someone Pokes Out An Eye!!

BLOGFEST LINK
Writing is all about FUN & GAMES today. Over 100 bloggers ~ including yours truly ~ are racking our brains, digging in our archived memories, and pulling out old ghosts all for the sake of FUN & GAMES.

CAUTION: humor may abound.

Seeing how I write Young Adult, Middle Grade, and Picture Books, I'm going to highlight one game from each era of my life. (ERA ~ makes me sound old.)

I can't imagine my elementary school days without Pick Up Sticks. Anyone remember those? At age six, I was the champion. Well, at least I thought I was. My dad was really the deal, but he let me think I was. We'd play for hours. #simplegames But we had a ton of fun with it.

Now for my tween years, I could have chosen a ton of games. But I decided to share with you one of the dumbest games I ever played: Spin the Bottle. #hangsheadandslapsself Yes, I really did....and I HATED EVERY STINKING MINUTE OF IT. Boys were GUR-ROSS! I didn't find them the least bit interesting until later on in high school--like not until my senior year. At age 13, sitting in a circle with a bunch of other secretly terrified tweens, waiting for the bottle to stop its spin, hoping and praying that it did not stop on the dude across from me who picks his nose in art class. UGH!! Oh, the horror!

I'm a guy's girl, a sport's freak. So for my teen torture chamber years in high school, you name the sport and I liked it...except catch and release fly fishing. Sorry. I can not watch that. :D But if I was to give you my ultimate sport, the one that gets me all hot and bothered and contorts my face alien-like while I watch it, then I'd say ICE HOCKEY. Major fan here!! #pointingfingeratself The game is grit and spit and rough and tough. It's fast paced--which fits my ADHD persona to perfection. And it doesn't care if I yell and scream or accidentally spill my beer on the guy next to me because my team scored. #thatneverhappened

WANT to watch a hockey game with me now?? Come on. YOU know you do... #winkswithabitofgleam

Thanks, Alex, for hosting such a fun blogfest. Peek HERE at other participants.
What's your favorite game??

TAGGED TO TELL

Tuesday is the day dedicated to the GRAFFITI WALL and another fabulous writer. And I did have a great interview for today, but I've decided to hold off and catch up on other areas of this blog that I've been neglecting. I'll post Casey McCormick's interview either Thursday or Tuesday of next week. Stay Tuned!!

TAGGED TO TELL

IS THIS LIKE TRUTH OR DARE?  'Cus I sucked at that game in junior high. Even worse in high school. Yeah, if it's anything like spin-the-bottle in junior high, I'm out'a he'ah. I was the girl in seventh grade who went into the closet with the boy and threaten his effing life if he laid a stinkin' finger on me!

Apparently I was TAGGED some time ago by a pesky rocker chick who's oh'so SWEET. She's my Hothead besty, although we haven't eaten any together. As a matter of fact, I haven't had a stinking Hothead in months.

(Hungry now. Craving sugar, not just caffeine.)
And thanks to the wonderfully, fabulous Dianne Salerni, I found out I must participate in this grand event.

5 Question Tag works like this: there are 5 questions (see below) I answered them and have TAGGED 5 Alleywalkers. Each of you must answer each question 5 times and TAG 5 other peeps.

Question 1: Where were you 5 years ago?
-Up to my @$$ is kid TOYS!!
-Living in an ice rink because three of our four kids played hockey (Shoot-me-now. I still haven't thawed-out.) Yeah, they still play.
-Multi-tasking while driving: spoon feeding the baby, yelling at the cell phone on speaker, adjusting the DVD player so two of the four kids could watch a movie, and praying the Rosary. (I'm serious.)
-Driving an effing minivan. Ugh.
-Still changing diapers.

Question 2: Where would you like to be 5 years from now?
-Represented by Agent Awesome for the last 4. 3 years and published all up
-In a new house or finally remodel our master bedroom
-Visiting my oldest as a junior in college. (OMGoshhhh)
-Breathing
-Still living life to the fullest

Question 3: What is (was) your to-do list today?
-Blog
-Get 4 humanoids off to school then write
-Help hubby build shed doors (For the 8th TIME!! Why won't he call a house husband?)
-Inject coffee
-Farm League game for the 6yr-old 2-nite

Question 4: What 5 snacks do you enjoy?
-Tomato and basil Wheat Thins dipped in cream cheese
-Salsa with cream cheese
-turkey wrapped, spread with cream cheese (See a pattern, people??)
-Pretzel...sorry, dipped in cream cheese
-Oh, yogurt with tons of granola, so that doesn't make it low-fat

Question 5: What 5 things would you do if you were a billionaire?
-Set up trusts for my kids' education & my parents health
-Buy hubby that house on the lake he's always wanted, a new Victory motorcycle, and his 1970Chevelle SS
-Set up a group of writers to mentor teens serious about their writing
-Become a formal platform for Multiple Sclerosis and Apraxia of Speech
-Morph into Mrs. Santa, randomly helping people without them knowing it.

";-)

Oh, BTW Candyland, I SO cut and pasted those questions. *HUGS*

W.I.B.I.J?! STARTS TODAY!

GAME ON!!

I usually leave my author posts up for two days but I just had to partake in this fun event. Heather, Tina, and Jon over on W.I.B.I.J?! have asked a few of us to post about their weekly game today.

What is W.I.B.I.J?! you ask? "It's a cross between cribbage, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, and the New York Times, if the NYT had a scavenger hunt."

Clues are left from one selective blog to another until all are found and the answer to a riddle is discovered. It's great fun, so click on their logo and join in today from 1 p.m to 2 p.m. The fast pace game only lasts an hour, but the game is open for exactly 24hrs. It doesn't technically close until tomorrow at 1 p.m. Answers to their riddle are accepted until that time.

And this week they are offering amazing prizes!! PRIZES!! Books and even a BEST COMMENT AWARD! Do Not Delay!!

(Oh, and don't be stupid like I was the first time I played. Collect the clues and use the words, people, not the first letter of each word to figure out the riddle. I swear I stared at those letters forever, even got the 16yr old involved.)

They DO have instructions on how to play, but...blah...why would I read those. (Slapping myself upside the head.)

{But please, if you haven't already, take a look at my interview with LM Preston, author of Explorer X-Alpha and The Pack posted yesterday. She is a great lady and full of tons of advice.}
